Trump vs. Putin and Xi

by Frank Li

President Trump has obviously been attempting to play Russia against China, without seemingly to know the profound truth: Putin hates America and admires China. In this post, I will show the silliness behind this attempt by comparing Trump with Putin and Xi, from speeches to everything else …

3. President Trump on April 26, 2019

While the two speeches above were delivered on April 26, 2019, what was President Trump doing? Tweeting, mostly! For more, read: President Trump Twitter Roundup and Today's Schedule 4-26-2017 - Morning Thread.

Now, let's pull out President Trump's best speech ... What is it? To me, it was his "State of the Union" speech in 2019 (Donald Trump State of the Union Speech 2019 (full transcript). Yet, it was full of lies. Any doubt? Watch the video below!

What about his major speech to the world at the UN? Here is a highlight:

4. Discussion

Shortly after he moved into the White House, I spelled out the challenges for President Trump against Presidents Putin and Xi in three posts as follows:

Unfortunately for America, he has failed to measure up, from the speeches to everything else. Specifically, here is a comparison:

President Putin inherited a bad hand, thanks to two traitorous leaders before him: Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin. But he has turned Russia around, with a long way to go though. In short, Putin wants to make Russia great again, without saying it but just doing it.
President Xi inherited a reasonably good hand from his predecessors, but has been challenged to take China to the next, and super-high, level. He has largely met the challenges, so far, with a long way to go though. In short, Xi wants to make China great again, without saying it but just doing it.

Donald Trump brilliantly won the American Presidency in 2016, but has turned out to be just yet another mediocre President, at best. This is especially disappointing for me because I not only strongly supported his candidacy (GOP Establishment vs. "We the people"), but also spelled out the path to historic greatness for him (President Trump Must Be One-Term, Voluntarily!). For more, read the image at the end of this post. In short, Trump wants to make America great again, saying it loudly but not really doing it, or knowing what to do.

Worse yet for America, President Trump is apparently not even on par with Kim III - See image below!

5. More discussion

To be fair, we must not simply blame Donald Trump for failing to be a good President. Two main reasons:
Our system ensures mediocracy in leadership. For more, read: America: It's Democracy, Stupid!
Our system has turned many good leaders into bad ones, especially at the Presidential level, thanks, chiefly, to the trap in our system: getting re-elected ad nauseam. For more, read: Three Worst American Terrorists: JFK, GWB, and BHO!

The image below highlights Donald Trump as a very flawed man.

Despite that, I well wished him to become a great transformational President, whom America desperately needs today. For more, read: Donald Trump vs. Deng Xiaoping.

But he has failed to step up. As a result, he will be, at best, just yet another mediocre President. At worst? I can’t bear to speculate!

Worse yet for America, if the 2016 election were held today, I would still vote for him because he would still be slightly better than the alternative: Hillary Clinton!

Worse still for America, it is for the same reason of "the lesser of two evils" that President Trump may even be re-elected in 2020!

Worst of all for America, it does not matter who the next President is – America will continue to decline for one main reason: there is little governance in America, but plenty of elections! For more, read: Governance in America.

How much sadder can it possibly be for America? For more, read: America: It’s Democracy, Stupid!

6. The big picture

Let’s look at the relationships among the three countries ...

The USSR and China shared the same DNA (i.e. communism). However, the USSR disintegrated, thanks to Mikhail Gorbachev who was cajoled into doing it by the U.S., resulting in a weak Russia which replaced communism with an equally bad system called democracy. China, on the other hand, found its own path to success, without giving up on communism! For more, read: Mikhail Gorbachev vs. Deng Xiaoping.

It is for this reason, chiefly, that Putin hates the U.S. and admires China! No American can change it, although the author of The Art of the Deal seems to be fantasizing about it all the time!

Currently, the Russia-China alliance is very solid, with strong leadership at the top.

In contrast, the U.S. is completely lost in this new world, with absolutely no idea of how to cope with the astronomical rise of China, which is on its way to surpassing the U.S. in everything, except for the military. For more, read: The U.S. vs. China: A Great Experiment vs. A Great Civilization!

Speaking of the military, it does not really matter between the U.S., Russia, and China, thanks to MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). Two informative readings:
