New USAF 25th Air Force Intelligence-Cyberwar Force Stands Up

The Pentagon announced today that the old Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency (AFISRA) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas is no more, It has been replaced by the newly created 25th Air Force, which will control all USAF intelligence collection, processing, analysis and reporting units (including HUMINT, MASINT and SIGINT), as well as all cber attack and defense units.

The first commanding officer of the 25th Air Force is Major General John T. Shanahan, USAF, formerly the commander of AFISRA. His deputy is Brigadier General Peter J. Lambert, USAF.
