"Mistaken U.S. practices" discourage China to resume cyber-security talks

OCTOBER 20, 2014

The ongoing cyber-war between USA and China has gone more intense. Reportedly, top Chinese diplomat in his statement to John Kerry, US Secretary of State, said that owing to "mistaken U.S. practices", it would be difficult resuming cyber-security cooperation between USA and China.

It may be recalled that US alleged that the recent cyber attacks on US businesses were backed by Chinese hackers. Chinese authorities in its response defied the allegations as baseless. Cyber-security has become a challenge before the Sino-American relationship.

Back in the month of May America imposed hacking charges on five Chinese military officers, following which, China discontinues its participation in a bilateral working group on cyber-security.

Reportedly a statement on Chinese Foreign Ministry Website quoted Chinese state Councillor Yang Jiechi's statement, which said "should take positive action to create necessary conditions for bilateral cyber-security dialogue and cooperation to resume.
Due to mistaken U.S. practices, it is difficult at this juncture to resume Sino-U.S. cyber-security dialogue and cooperation."

It may be noteworthy that Edward Snowden, former employee of America's National Security Agency (NSA), had alleged the US authorities of hacking into official network infrastructure at universities in China and Hong Kong.
